About

What am I doing?

From March of 2024 I will start a lengthy journey on foot. The adventure will lead me through more than 6000 km of Australia, starting in Perth and ending in my home town of Newcastle.

Why am I doing this?

I have always been one that loves adventure and the outdoors, which has led me to embark on various adventures, such as road trips and walking along the longest beach in NSW (Stockton beach). I also found myself loving the isolation and dull thrill of just being so far away from an end goal, whilst loving the enduring process to get there. However, it wasn’t until I read ‘True Spirit’ by Jessica Watson that I decided that I wanted to do something big. While zooming out on the maps one particular day it all collided, and here I am.
I then wanted to do something positive with this journey. I began thinking it over, coming to the conclusion that I wanted to inspire kids to fight for their dreams, and to not only see them as some far-off blurry image, but as a crystal-clear reality within their grasps. I wanted them to feel the same way I felt after I put that epic book down, and in accordance with how my parents raised me.
It wasn’t until people around me told me that I should look to raise money for a charity, that I really thought I could and should. I am delighted and honoured to be raising money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, with a goal set for $20, 000. I encourage everyone to check out the ‘Donation’ tab and put their hard-earned dollars to work!

Who am I?

Well, this is the bit where I have to describe myself in a way that sounds interesting, but not cocky.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Environmental Engineering/BSc at the University of Newcastle, and I have worked as an intern at multiple engineering-associated business. When I was younger I kept active with rugby league and surf life saving. More recently I have taken part in the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme, as well as multiple shorter independent adventures.

As a child I was persistently curious and adventurous, always asking questions. This fascination with just about anything has evolved into my continuing search for what I want to do with my life. Now, while nearing the end of my university studies, I have decided to embark on this journey.

I have provided more detail on my life up until now, and my personal motivations, in this post.
